To stop the decline of agriculture, it is important to pass on farming techniques to the next generation. We want to make the world a more enjoyable place where everyone can easily grow vegetables, where farming is more accessible and, if possible, where people can enjoy farming in the comfort of their homes...
Three years in the making, Leafus brings together the growing expertise of agri-tech start-up Spice Cube and the metalworking technology of auto parts manufacturer Aisin Takaoka. Leafus is the result of technology and design.
As a result of repeated studies into how small it could be made and how it could be shaped to ensure the uniform flow of small amounts of water, we were able to ensure the same level of growth with less than 1/5 the cross-sectional area, 1/2 the weight and 1/6 the amount of water of conventional grow containers. The new system is designed to be used with only one metal in the growing environment, such as nutrient solution recirculation.
It took three years to complete the Leafus concept machine, after designing it and running into the difficulties of using only one metal for the growing environment, including nutrient solution circulation. We have been able to create a machine that is just the right size and has the right features and design to pursue both vegetable yield and quality, making farming more enjoyable and space efficient.
